We work to promote human rights, dignity and sustainable livelihoods for women, children & youths across Malawi.

Since our foundation in Nkhotakota in 1997, we have been working tirelessly to promote the rights and opportunities of young people, empowering them to become self-reliant through the provision of knowledge and skills.

Youth and Community Development Organisation - YouthCode is a nonprofit making, non-partisan entity that was formed in November 1997. The organisation was founded by a group of concerned youth who, at the time, were deeply displeased with the perpetual legacy of marginalisation of young people and women in mainstreaming development policy and practice in Malawi and Nkhotakota district in particular. With the emergence of a robust civil society, particularly subsequent to democratisation of Malawi’s political system, the distraught but resolute youth capitalised on the changing status quo and formed an organisation whose mandate was to provide space for youth activism, promote youth and women’s role and visibility in local development and help in the fight against emerging health problems such as HIV/AIDS.

Since its foundation in 1997, the organisation has grown to be a major development actor in Nkhotakota district, having implemented projects funded by entities such as UNDP, Plan International Malawi, and Diku (The Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education), to name a few. YouthCode focuses on programmes in the areas of youth employability, entrepreneurship, HIV/Aids, gender and human rights.
